Watford Jobs Fair Launched

I am very pleased to announce that I will be holding an exciting jobs, skills and apprenticeships fair in Watford on the 30th June. This will be an excellent opportunity for local businesses to advertise any vacancies or apprenticeships they may have. We already have many big local and national companies signed up as well as plenty of small local businesses; offering vacancies in everything to hairdressing to accountancy to building jobs.

My March Diary

March was a key month for the Government and for my activities in Watford. In Westminster all eyes were focused on the budget and what steps the Treasury would take to continue our work to fix the UK’s economy. Back in Watford I launch the Watford Jobs Fair to help local people get back to work, into apprenticeships and to gain new skills. The event is in June but preparations are well underway.

Budget 2011

On March 23rd, the Chancellor delivered this year’s Budget, focusing on two things: reforming the economy to provide for more jobs and growth for the future, and doing what we can to help families with the ever rising cost of living.

Local Business Survey

Have an opinion on the challenges facing local businesses right now? With over 25 years of business experience, I know just how important business is to the local community and the national economy.

Feedback on Public Sector Spending

My main priority as MP is to ensure that decisions made in Westminster are being fairly and properly implemented in Watford. Since the Government’s announcements in the Spending Review last October and the emergency Budget last June much of the focus has been on cuts to public services and I spend a lot of my time in Watford discussing these cuts with local organisations and charities.

My February Diary

February was another busy month in Westminster and Watford. As well as my regular surgeries, I met with business owners in Watford, discussed the Leaveden Studios development with Warner Brothers Execs and held another public meeting, this time in Abbots Langley.

My 2010 Report

As I write this, with the new year fast approaching, it seems a very long time since that very nervous Election Day in May. The last few months have been some of the busiest and most exciting times for Parliament and for me personally. I feel very privileged to be a part of this Government and I know for certain that I would not be here if it were not for the hard work; dedication and support from so many people, for that I am continually grateful.

Comprehensive Spending Review

I was very pleased to hear the Chancellor’s announcements today, setting out how the Government will fairly and responsibly cut the national deficit, stop the spiralling debt left by the last Government and get the economy back on its feet.
